INTRODUCTION
Our work in the legal industry encompasses a variety of language services with a focus on written translations, supporting both transactional and litigation matters. On-Site or Video Remote Interpreting is also offered for client meetings, information sessions, depositions, hearings, trials, among other applications.
Document translation assignments principally consist of contracts, memorandums, patent applications, and matters relating to cross border transactions. These support services are provided by Translators and Interpreters who go through a linguistic vetting process and have subject matter experience.
Other language services we offer include transcription, voice-overs, CART, subtitling and dubbing.
TB Alliance can be a one-stop solution for your language services needs. Our versatility in offering a full suite of services assures our clients that they need not look elsewhere for assistance with language service requests. We support over 100 languages and work globally with clients ranging from small law firms and clinics, to the largest government agencies, the military and multi-national law firms.
Our team of Account and Project Managers can help guide all assignments to a successful completion
Translator Sourcing
We recruit new translators through referrals, the American Translators Association, international language organizations, inbound requests, outbound inquiries, and through industry conferences and events.
Translator Qualifications and Certifications
When you commit to a project, you do so with the confidence that the translator assigned has been admitted via a thorough and comprehensive recruitment process. Linguists can be validated with background checks and pre-screened to confirm their language proficiency, education, work experience and professional certifications and associations.
As members of the American Translators Association (ATA), the Society for Editing, and other industry organizations, we are committed to following the policies and procedures of these organizations.
Linguistic Vetting Process
Our Translation Production Team considers many factors in approving and monitoring our linguistic teams. These include:
- Native speakers of the target language
- Years of experience translating or interpreting
- Expertise or experience in a subject matter
- Educational degrees
- Professional experiences
- Certifications
- How they learned their non-native languages
- Current and past residencies
- Understanding of grammar and general writing skills
- Computer skill
Native Linguists
Our linguists only translate into their mother-tongue, so they have natural ability in the target language, capturing colloquialisms and cultural nuances. Consequently, our translators are sensitive to cultural differences, and ensure consistency in terminology, syntax, and style.
Legal Experience & Employment of Retired Lawyers
Many of the linguists we work with have been translating legal documents for 10+ years. This experience enables them to recognize common mistakes and provide accurate word for word translations, based on context. One of the key factors we also consider in selecting which linguists to work with is their prior work experience. Our pool of translators for legal work includes many who are either retired lawyers or who currently also practice law.
TRANSLATION MEMORY FAQs
We use a variety of Computer-Assisted-Translation (CAT) tools as part of our project workflows. As a means
to create consistency in translation and to avoid duplications in content Translation Memory also enables
faster turnaround times, improved quality of translation and, if translating large amounts of content,
creates significant cost-savings
The Simple Answer: Every sentence translated for a client is then stored in a database designated solely for that client for future use.
General Overview of Translation Memory
For any organization most company documents, including reports, presentations, plans, marketing collateral and webpages, will contain some content that is phrased in the same way. These segments of content can be blocks, paragraphs, sentences, or phrases. If the same or similar text, from a previous translation, appears in another document, the software alerts the translator who can then insert pre-existing translations from the memory into your document, review in-context and edit, if necessary.
A glossary of terms relevant to your industry, company, product, client, or subject matter can help maintain the consistency and efficacy of your content when translated into multiple languages. You can create multiple glossaries, each relevant to a particular business function. These can be incorporated into a comprehensive Term Base with proper classifications and descriptors from which to extract separate glossaries when needed.
As your language partner we will work with you to compile a Term Base, in advance of starting a translation project, and commit to updating existing entries, adding new ones that emerge during translation, and removing obsolete entries.Term Bases can be created from a spreadsheet that we can then import into our translation management system.
Improved Consistency of Translations
A direct result of the use of Translation Memory
Reduction in turnaround time
Linguists do not need to re-translate repeated sentences or paragraphs.
Cost Savings
Repeated text is only charged at third of the normal price. Translators will still check the context of repeated text.
